50 Most Romantic Restaurants In United States / The Most Romantic Restaurants In Every State
https://cforbeauty.blogspot.com/2017/03/50-most-romantic-restaurants-in-united.html
Okay, maybe it would be a slight exaggeration to compare Valentine’s Day to Christmas or Easter, but let’s face it: February 14th is a date that a great many people from all over the world still look forward to every year. And I’m not talking only about couples, but also about single people, who may even find their loved one among the chocolate isles at the supermarket.
Anyway, in this article I want to talk to you about the one thing that, in my opinion, goes best with love: food. To be more specific, I want to talk to you about the best – and the most romantic – restaurants all across the United States of America.
Which is exactly why I’ve compiled a list of 50 restaurants from 50 states that you and your Significant Other are bound to fall in love with.
ALABAMA: Highlands Bar and Grill, Birmingham
Located in Birmingham, AL, Highlands Bar and Grill is the pride and joy of chefs Frank and Pardis Stitt. They are masters of French cooking techniques, but at the same time, they know Southern cuisine inside out. Honestly, the dishes they serve are basically gourmet comfort food. And because the restaurant aims to provide its clients with the bet seasonal ingredients, the menu changes almost daily.
Absolutely gorgeous, don’t you think?
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you that Highlands Bar and Grill was selected as one of OpenTable’s best restaurants of 2015. Not to mention that it was also a semifinalist of James Beard’s Outstanding Restaurant. So it’s not just hype, you know?
ALASKA: Marx Bros, Cafe
The city of Anchorage, AK is the home to the most wonderful Marx Bros. Café, a cafe that puts freshness above everything else. Okay, maybe not above taste and technique, which is just important for executive chef Jack Amon, who makes awesome changes to the menu every night, adding new fresh seafood dishes all the time. His creativity is literally off the charts. I mean, come on, a man whose most popular dishes include Neapolitan seafood mousse or tea smoked duck has got to be brilliant, don’t you think?
And let’s not ignore Van Hale, the cellar master who’ll let you exactly which wine goes perfectly with your dish. And believe me, with the restaurant’s extensive list, you’re spoilt for choice.
It’s true that there’s a lot of stuff to see in Phoenix, AZ, but at the same time, you can’t deny that there’s a lot of stuff to taste in this city too. Especially at Quissence, my absolute favorite restaurant in the entire state. Its location is quite convenient too – Phoenix’s Farm, South Mountain property – and mandatory for getting the healthiest and freshest ingredients for clients every morning. Everything the chefs use is grown locally, and believe me – you can feel this when you’re eating at Quissence.
This is the perfect restaurant to go to with your significant other, not just this Valentine’s Day, but also at every time of year. One thing is sure: your meal will be absolutely delightful. And it will taste even better, knowing that local farmers have had a hand in it too.
ARKANSAS: OneEleven, Little Rock
One Eleven at the Capital, located in Little Rock, AR, is a place that’s definitely exceeded my expectations. I mean, don’t get me wrong, when I first visited it, I was well aware that it had been one of the semifinalists of 2015’s James Beard Award for the Best New Restaurant.
But I never expected it to be that good. Cheers to chef Joel Antunes, whose artisanal dishes left me agape, taking loads of pics for my Instagram. Grilled Maine lobster, breaised Wagyu beef and Scallop ceviche are among his most popular specialties, but believe me – everything on the menu is excellent.
Another thing worth mentioning is the quality of the service. The staff are absolutely lovely, and the atmosphere of the place is simply addictive. So warm and well lit that my mind always wanders to those few hours I spent there with my SO.
CALIFORNIA: The French Laundry
Surprising as it may seem, the coolest restaurant in California is not some trendy place in Los Angeles, but a lovely little restaurant in Yountville.
But don’t let yourself be deceived by The French Laundry’s location. The restaurant itself already has three Michelin stars, not to mention loads of other fancy awards, and needless to say, having dinner with your partner there is definitely worth it.
This restaurant is definitely unique, since you’ll have to choose between Chef Thomas Keller’s two menus – prix fixe, and no less than 310 bucks each – which change every single day, never featuring the same ingredients more than once.
So if you’re in Cali and you feel like splurging this Valentine’s Day, then by all means go to The French Laundry with your partner. It’s going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity, you can be sure of that.
COLORADO: Frasca Food & Wine
If you happen to be in Boulder, CO this Valentine’s Day – and not only then – you must make sure to visit Frasca Food & Wine, the most amazing establishment in the whole state. This restaurant has already won more than one James Beard awards, and it’s also been nominated for several other awards even more often. In 2008, for instance, Chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson was named the best chef in the Southwest, while 2013 came with an Outstanding Wine Program top prize.
So yeah, Frasca Food & Wine is not only about extremely delicious food, but also about wine of the best quality. Needless to say, the Italian restaurant also has a bunch of wine servers who are in the know about what goes with each dish and always ready to help you.
CONNECTICUT: Cavey’s Restaurant, Manchester
Ah, Connecticut! This state is seriously underrated, especially food-wise, because the restaurants here are simply brilliant. A lot better than you’d expect.
Especially this marvelous place in Manchester. It’s called Cavey’s Restaurant, and it is just the perfect choice if you and your significant other are both gourmands. Or if the two of you can’t make up your mind which cuisine you’re going to indulge in on Valentine’s Day.
Yep, Cavey’s Restaurant has got two floors. If you’re in the mood for Italian, go upstairs. Pizza, pasta – they have all varieties, and regardless of what you choose from the menu, you won’t go home dissatisfied. Downstairs, French food is served, so you can always go for a fancy dessert there. Or the other way round. Whatever works better for you.
DELAWARE: a(MUSE.)
Delaware, oh sweet Delaware! Now that’s what I call a hugely underrated state. And you’ll definitely understand what I’m talking about if you ever find yourself on Rehoboth Beach, or more specifically, at a(MUSE.)
Yep, you read that right. a(MUSE.) I know it sounds like a highly sophisticated place, and truth be told, it is indeed sophisticated. But at the same time, it’s very cozy, and the chef, Hari Cameron, is a James Beard semifinalist who knows exactly how to give her clients the best food ever. The menus change very often, and sometimes, there are even five, seven or even eleven courses involved.
If you like variety, you can taste everything from pan-roasted scallops, to foie gras mousse and lavender honey ice cream. Delicious, right?
FLORIDA: Victoria & Albert’s, Orlando Cioppino, Key Biscane
Florida has loads of awesome restaurants, and honestly, it’s been incredibly difficult for me to choose just one as a Valentine’s Day suggestion for this year. However, I’ve managed to decide on Victoria & Albert’s, a place that you will undoubtedly associate with a great many happy memories in the long run.
Despite Victoria & Albert’s being located in Orlando, I must clarify that this place isn’t like any other Disney World restaurant. Chef Scott Hunnel is in a completely different league, his menu bringing together some of the world’s most beloved cuisines: French, Asian, Italian, and yes, even American.
Here, you can choose between three prix-free options – dining room, chef’s table and a vegetarian, obviously – which range from seven to twelve courses. The biggest price you could pay is 136 bucks. But it’s all worth it.
GEORGIA: Bacchanalia
According to Business Insider, Bacchanalia, located in Atlanta, GA, is the No. 26 in the whole United States of America. And that’s not all. Zagat have named it the No. 1 restaurant in Atlanta. So this is definitely a must visit for every couple of gourmands out there.
The chef’s name is Joe Schaefer, and this guy is more or less of a genius. Bacchanalia is just perfect for those of us who love contemporary American dishes. So if you’re into stuff like shrimp bisque with mussels and celery root ravioli, then this is the perfect place for you and your significant other.
Oh, and I almost forgot. This lovely restaurant gets bonus points for using fresh, locally collected ingredients for absolutely every dish.
HAWAII: Mama’s Fish House
I think it’s already pretty clear that Hawaiian cuisine is out of this world and nothing like anything you can taste all across the rest of America. Mama’s Fish House, located in Paia, HI, may not be owned by native Hawaiians, but oh my, do they compensate for that!
This restaurant offers the tastiest Polynesian dishes ever, and one of the most interesting things about this is that the menu changes every day in order to accommodate the catches of the day. And yes, of course – local fishermen are involved in this process, and you can actually see their names too.
Needless to say, freshness is of the utmost importance at Mama’s Fish House. I can guarantee that all the fish used for the dishes they serve is served within 24 hours.
IDAHO: Chandler’s, Boise
Idaho. Not exactly the first state that comes to mind when you think of a romantic dinner for two on Valentine’s Day. But hey, let’s not be ridiculous, every state has its awesome sports, and Idaho has got its fair share of romantic souls. Oh, and the city of Boise, ID is home a most amazing restaurant that is worth a visit not just on February 14th, but also throughout the entire year.
Chandler’s is, at its heart, a steakhouse dinner. But it’s not a regular one, you know? Once you enter their doors, you’ll find yourself in a dimly lit lounge setting that will undoubtedly get you just in the right mood. And on Valentine’s Day this year, you’ll get an absolutely amazing prix fixe menu for just 50 dollars each.
ILLINOIS: Alinea, Chicago
The city of Chicago, IL has a lot to offer, not only in terms of food, but also pretty much everything. However, by know you’re pretty well aware of the fact that I am a gourmand and that in my view, Valentine’s Day is best spent with your Significant Other in a cool restaurant with an amazing atmosphere, enjoying the most delicious dishes you’ve had in your life.
Grant Achatz’s Alinea has got everything. It’s one of the most sophisticated restaurants in Chicago. The interior is sleek, from every point of view, but at the same time, incredibly cozy. The menu is absolutely delightful, as it caters for all tastes, and don’t even get me started on the wine list, which is even better.
INDIANA: Bluebeard, Indianapolis
Located in Indianapolis, IN, Bluebeard is an absolute dream. Chef Abbi Merriss knows all that there is to know about the wonderful trade called cooking, and let’s face it, there’s no better way to enjoy an awesome dish than with your Significant Other on Valentine’s Day.
Anyway, if you are a meat lover, than Bluebeard is just the right place for you to go on this amazing day. The location is totally unique – we’re talking about a contemporary American restaurant operating from an old but refurbished warehouse here –, and about a menu that changes every day in order to incorporate the ingredients provided by locals.
The meat, for example, comes from local farms. But oh my, this doesn’t mean the dishes aren’t fancy. On the contrary. Does pappardelle with braised pork belly sound like your thing? Because it surely sounds like mine.
IOWA: Cobble Hill, Cedar Rapids
If you’ve ever eaten somewhere in New York, then you have to admit that there’s something about the atmosphere of the city that other places simply cannot match. Yes, having brunch or dinner in Manhattan can be a totally unique experience, but the best thing about living in Iowa – or in Cedar Rapids, to be more specific – is that you have the chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day in New York fashion without even leaving your home state.
The restaurant I’m talking about is called Cobble Hill, and the decorators have done a great job emulating Brooklyn with actual taste. And the dishes are simply mouthwatering, as the menu caters to all tastes. And as it usually goes, fresh, local ingredients are used every time.

KANSAS: AVI Seabar & Chophouse, Wichita
Kansas, oh Kansas! Nothing is quite like this state, and I’ve always believed that food here is just as it is supposed to be. Abundant, mouth watering, and well – most importantly – effin’ delicious.
So if you happen to be in downtown Wichita on Valentine’s Day, then you should by all means grab your Significant Other and come to the lovely AVI Seabar & Chophouse, which you can find at the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview.
The atmosphere here is absolutely amazing, and the menu revolves around the steakshouse theme, all that while incorporating new and exciting stuff like revamped versions of the classics: steaks, shrimp scampi and crab cakes. They truly have it all, so you should definitely give this place a go.
KENTUCKY: Bouquet Restaurant and Wine Bar, Covington
Located in Covington, KY, Bouquet Restaurant and Wine Bar offers exactly what the names says, the only difference being that it will blow your mind on top of that too. And the place itself is pretty damn amazing too. In fact, if you do decide to have dinner with your partner here on Valentine’s Day, you’ll definitely feel at home, the only difference being that the extremely kind staff will serve you gourmet, albeit classic dishes like strip steak, risotto and the like, all of them paired with a glass of wine of the best quality. In fact, Bouquet is renowned for its extensive wine collections, which feature bottles from all the four corners of the world.
Pretty impressive, don’t you think?
LOUISIANA: Arnaud’s, New Orleans
I don’t know if I’ve ever told you this before, but I am very fond of Louisiana. The music, the culture, and the atmosphere in general – they’re all in sync with my soul. But wait, I haven’t mentioned my favorite thing of all, namely the food that Louisiana has to offer. If you need something specific, then I’ll give you a restaurant name: Arnaud’s.
Not unexpectedly, Arnaud’s is situated in the French Quarter of New Orleans, right off of Bourbon Street. Here, Mardi Gras is celebrated all year long, so you can imagine that a combination between this and Valentine’s Day could indeed be pretty awesome.
Anyway, a restaurant that’s served Creole cuisine for almost 100 years now is definitely worth a visit.
MAINE: White Barn Inn, Kennebunk Beach
Is Maine inherently romantic? I don’t know about that. However, you have to admit that there is indeed something cozy and even quite romantic about sitting at a table with your significant other, enjoying the most delicious dishes you’ve ever had in your life and looking out the window, only to see the lovely snowy scenery outside.
So I was right. You do like this idea. Then why not head to White Barn Inn, which is located in Kennebunk Bach, ME? Order the special menu that the chef has created especially for Valentine’s Day, and don’t forget to breathe in the atmosphere and take a couple selfies. After all, this sophisticated restaurant is actually a revamped wooden barn. Awesome, right?
MARYLAND: Charleston, Baltimore
If you live in Baltimore, or if you happen to be there on Valentine’s Day with your partner, do yourself a favor and go to Charleston. I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed, especially since this restaurant brings together low country and French cuisine in the most wonderful way possible.
Anyway, regardless of how many courses you’re in the mood for, you’re spoilt for choice. Three? Six? You’re golden. And considering how sophisticated this restaurant is, the price tags, which vary between 79 and 114 dollars, shouldn’t be a problem. After all, you’re allowed to splurge every once in a while, don’t you think?
Oh, and I forgot to mention the fact that Chef Cindy Wolf is a three time finalist for the James Beard Award for the Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic region.
MASSACHUSETTS: Wheatleigh Hotel, Lenox
Okay, so Hotel Wheatleigh may not be as grand as Hilton or Ramada, given that it is privately owned, and quite small, but oh my, its dining room is by far and away one of the very best in the entire country. If you are into fine dining, sophisticated places and all the like, then you will most definitely be happy to hear that Wheatleigh is open all year-round.
Every single member of the staff was trained in Europe, and believe me when I’m telling you this: their training is indeed noticeable.
The airy space is ideal for Valentine’s Day, as nothing seems to break the peaceful atmosphere or prevent you from enjoying your time with your partner. Oh, and if you want an extra tip, try their cheese trolley. It’s absolutely delicious.
MICHIGAN: Grove, Grand Rapids
Grove is an absolutely amazing restaurant situated in Grand Rapids, MI, which has already got an established reputation for using high quality, natural, ingredients collected from local farms. The menu is one of the most impressive ones I’ve ever seen, and let’s face it – there’s nothing like going to a restaurant and seeing the impressive selection of dishes they have on offer and not knowing what to choose.
Anyway, I’ll give you two examples of awesome dishes served at Grove, which are actuallu my favorites: poached shrimp nicoise and olive oil poached arctic char. Oh my!
And FIY, Grand Rapids magazine named it Restaurant of the Year for two years in a row, while OpenTable voted it not just best food and best service, but also best overall in Michigan.
MINNESOTA: Spoon and Stable, Minneapolis
Normally, I would tell you not to be deceived by restaurant names, but in this case, Spoon and Stable was named accordingly. The restaurant is actually a refurbished horse stable, which I believe looks absolutely amazing at the moment.
One of the most interesting aspects of Spoon and Stable, however, is the way it combines Midwestern flavors with French cuisine. Chef Gavin Kaysen spent his entire childhood and teenage years in Minneapolis, and he wants every dish served under his supervision to reflect the beauty of this state’s flavors.
Among the best selling dishes – or should I call them fan favorites? – served at his restaurant you can find bison tartare, as well as gorgeous spaghetti topped with mussels and prawns and – wait for it – monkfish wrapped in bacon.
MISSISSIPPI: Char, Jackson
To say that Jackson, Mississippi is a pretty cool city would be a huge understatement, because experience has taught me that this place is absolutely delightful, from every point of view. But hey, we aren’t talking about overall stuff here, but about two very important things: one, food, and two, Valentine’s Day.
So if you are in the mood for some lovely and delicious comfort food, but at the same time willing to spend this wonderful day with in a fancy, sophisticated place your significant other, then Char is just the right spot for you. The wood paneled dining room, the dim light, the gorgeous selection of dishes in the menu … absolutely amazing! House made pecan pie? Fried crab claws? Pecan crusted blackfish? Yes, please.
MISSOURI: Bluestem, Kansas City
Kansas City is a must-see in Missouri, and as you’ve probably already guessed, the main reason for that is a restaurant. An absolutely amazing one called Bluestem, which was not only featured in Eater’s America’s Essential Restaurants list, but also among the semifinalists for 2015’s James Beard Outstanding Restaurant.
So needless to say, Bluestem is in a league of its own. The food is truly impressive, as is the hospitality. If you want my advice, this Valentine’s Day you and your partner should try one of the three-, five-, or ten-course – yeah, you read that right! – tasting menus, which are pretty damn amazing. This comes as no surprise. After all, how could you not love a menu that includes sweet corn soup, black truffle, sea scallops and goat cheesecake?
