50 Most Romantic Restaurants In United States / The Most Romantic Restaurants In Every State

most romantic restaurants
Okay, maybe it would be a slight exaggeration to compare Valentine’s Day to Christmas or Easter, but let’s face it: February 14th is a date that a great many people from all over the world still look forward to every year. And I’m not talking only about couples, but also about single people, who may even find their loved one among the chocolate isles at the supermarket.
Anyway, in this article I want to talk to you about the one thing that, in my opinion, goes best with love: food. To be more specific, I want to talk to you about the best – and the most romantic – restaurants all across the United States of America.
Which is exactly why I’ve compiled a list of 50 restaurants from 50 states that you and your Significant Other are bound to fall in love with.

ALABAMA: Highlands Bar and Grill, Birmingham

Located in Birmingham, AL, Highlands Bar and Grill is the pride and joy of chefs Frank and Pardis Stitt. They are masters of French cooking techniques, but at the same time, they know Southern cuisine inside out. Honestly, the dishes they serve are basically gourmet comfort food. And because the restaurant aims to provide its clients with the bet seasonal ingredients, the menu changes almost daily.
Absolutely gorgeous, don’t you think?
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you that Highlands Bar and Grill was selected as one of OpenTable’s best restaurants of 2015. Not to mention that it was also a semifinalist of James Beard’s Outstanding Restaurant. So it’s not just hype, you know?

ALASKA: Marx Bros, Cafe

most romantic restaurants
The city of Anchorage, AK is the home to the most wonderful Marx Bros. Café, a cafe that puts freshness above everything else. Okay, maybe not above taste and technique, which is just important for executive chef Jack Amon, who makes awesome changes to the menu every night, adding new fresh seafood dishes all the time. His creativity is literally off the charts. I mean, come on, a man whose most popular dishes include Neapolitan seafood mousse or tea smoked duck has got to be brilliant, don’t you think?
And let’s not ignore Van Hale, the cellar master who’ll let you exactly which wine goes perfectly with your dish. And believe me, with the restaurant’s extensive list, you’re spoilt for choice.
It’s true that there’s a lot of stuff to see in Phoenix, AZ, but at the same time, you can’t deny that there’s a lot of stuff to taste in this city too. Especially at Quissence, my absolute favorite restaurant in the entire state. Its location is quite convenient too – Phoenix’s Farm, South Mountain property – and mandatory for getting the healthiest and freshest ingredients for clients every morning. Everything the chefs use is grown locally, and believe me – you can feel this when you’re eating at Quissence.
This is the perfect restaurant to go to with your significant other, not just this Valentine’s Day, but also at every time of year. One thing is sure: your meal will be absolutely delightful. And it will taste even better, knowing that local farmers have had a hand in it too.

ARKANSAS: OneEleven, Little Rock

most romantic restaurants
One Eleven at the Capital, located in Little Rock, AR, is a place that’s definitely exceeded my expectations. I mean, don’t get me wrong, when I first visited it, I was well aware that it had been one of the semifinalists of 2015’s James Beard Award for the Best New Restaurant.
But I never expected it to be that good. Cheers to chef Joel Antunes, whose artisanal dishes left me agape, taking loads of pics for my Instagram. Grilled Maine lobster, breaised Wagyu beef and Scallop ceviche are among his most popular specialties, but believe me – everything on the menu is excellent.
Another thing worth mentioning is the quality of the service. The staff are absolutely lovely, and the atmosphere of the place is simply addictive. So warm and well lit that my mind always wanders to those few hours I spent there with my SO.

CALIFORNIA: The French Laundry

most romantic restaurants
Surprising as it may seem, the coolest restaurant in California is not some trendy place in Los Angeles, but a lovely little restaurant in Yountville.
But don’t let yourself be deceived by The French Laundry’s location. The restaurant itself already has three Michelin stars, not to mention loads of other fancy awards, and needless to say, having dinner with your partner there is definitely worth it.
This restaurant is definitely unique, since you’ll have to choose between Chef Thomas Keller’s two menus – prix fixe, and no less than 310 bucks each – which change every single day, never featuring the same ingredients more than once.
So if you’re in Cali and you feel like splurging this Valentine’s Day, then by all means go to The French Laundry with your partner. It’s going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity, you can be sure of that.

COLORADO: Frasca Food & Wine

If you happen to be in Boulder, CO this Valentine’s Day – and not only then – you must make sure to visit Frasca Food & Wine, the most amazing establishment in the whole state. This restaurant has already won more than one James Beard awards, and it’s also been nominated for several other awards even more often. In 2008, for instance, Chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson was named the best chef in the Southwest, while 2013 came with an Outstanding Wine Program top prize.
So yeah, Frasca Food & Wine is not only about extremely delicious food, but also about wine of the best quality. Needless to say, the Italian restaurant also has a bunch of wine servers who are in the know about what goes with each dish and always ready to help you.

CONNECTICUT: Cavey’s Restaurant, Manchester

most romantic restaurants
Ah, Connecticut! This state is seriously underrated, especially food-wise, because the restaurants here are simply brilliant. A lot better than you’d expect.
Especially this marvelous place in Manchester. It’s called Cavey’s Restaurant, and it is just the perfect choice if you and your significant other are both gourmands. Or if the two of you can’t make up your mind which cuisine you’re going to indulge in on Valentine’s Day.
Yep, Cavey’s Restaurant has got two floors. If you’re in the mood for Italian, go upstairs. Pizza, pasta – they have all varieties, and regardless of what you choose from the menu, you won’t go home dissatisfied. Downstairs, French food is served, so you can always go for a fancy dessert there. Or the other way round. Whatever works better for you.

DELAWARE: a(MUSE.)

Delaware, oh sweet Delaware! Now that’s what I call a hugely underrated state. And you’ll definitely understand what I’m talking about if you ever find yourself on Rehoboth Beach, or more specifically, at a(MUSE.)
Yep, you read that right. a(MUSE.) I know it sounds like a highly sophisticated place, and truth be told, it is indeed sophisticated. But at the same time, it’s very cozy, and the chef, Hari Cameron, is a James Beard semifinalist who knows exactly how to give her clients the best food ever. The menus change very often, and sometimes, there are even five, seven or even eleven courses involved.
If you like variety, you can taste everything from pan-roasted scallops, to foie gras mousse and lavender honey ice cream. Delicious, right?

FLORIDA: Victoria & Albert’s, Orlando Cioppino, Key Biscane

Florida has loads of awesome restaurants, and honestly, it’s been incredibly difficult for me to choose just one as a Valentine’s Day suggestion for this year. However, I’ve managed to decide on Victoria & Albert’s, a place that you will undoubtedly associate with a great many happy memories in the long run.
Despite Victoria & Albert’s being located in Orlando, I must clarify that this place isn’t like any other Disney World restaurant. Chef Scott Hunnel is in a completely different league, his menu bringing together some of the world’s most beloved cuisines: French, Asian, Italian, and yes, even American.
Here, you can choose between three prix-free options – dining room, chef’s table and a vegetarian, obviously – which range from seven to twelve courses. The biggest price you could pay is 136 bucks. But it’s all worth it.

GEORGIA: Bacchanalia

most romantic restaurants
According to Business Insider, Bacchanalia, located in Atlanta, GA, is the No. 26 in the whole United States of America. And that’s not all. Zagat have named it the No. 1 restaurant in Atlanta. So this is definitely a must visit for every couple of gourmands out there.
The chef’s name is Joe Schaefer, and this guy is more or less of a genius. Bacchanalia is just perfect for those of us who love contemporary American dishes. So if you’re into stuff like shrimp bisque with mussels and celery root ravioli, then this is the perfect place for you and your significant other.
Oh, and I almost forgot. This lovely restaurant gets bonus points for using fresh, locally collected ingredients for absolutely every dish.

HAWAII: Mama’s Fish House

I think it’s already pretty clear that Hawaiian cuisine is out of this world and nothing like anything you can taste all across the rest of America. Mama’s Fish House, located in Paia, HI, may not be owned by native Hawaiians, but oh my, do they compensate for that!
This restaurant offers the tastiest Polynesian dishes ever, and one of the most interesting things about this is that the menu changes every day in order to accommodate the catches of the day. And yes, of course – local fishermen are involved in this process, and you can actually see their names too.
Needless to say, freshness is of the utmost importance at Mama’s Fish House. I can guarantee that all the fish used for the dishes they serve is served within 24 hours.

IDAHO: Chandler’s, Boise

Idaho. Not exactly the first state that comes to mind when you think of a romantic dinner for two on Valentine’s Day. But hey, let’s not be ridiculous, every state has its awesome sports, and Idaho has got its fair share of romantic souls. Oh, and the city of Boise, ID is home a most amazing restaurant that is worth a visit not just on February 14th, but also throughout the entire year.
Chandler’s is, at its heart, a steakhouse dinner. But it’s not a regular one, you know? Once you enter their doors, you’ll find yourself in a dimly lit lounge setting that will undoubtedly get you just in the right mood. And on Valentine’s Day this year, you’ll get an absolutely amazing prix fixe menu for just 50 dollars each.

ILLINOIS: Alinea, Chicago

most romantic restaurants
The city of Chicago, IL has a lot to offer, not only in terms of food, but also pretty much everything. However, by know you’re pretty well aware of the fact that I am a gourmand and that in my view, Valentine’s Day is best spent with your Significant Other in a cool restaurant with an amazing atmosphere, enjoying the most delicious dishes you’ve had in your life.
Grant Achatz’s Alinea has got everything. It’s one of the most sophisticated restaurants in Chicago. The interior is sleek, from every point of view, but at the same time, incredibly cozy. The menu is absolutely delightful, as it caters for all tastes, and don’t even get me started on the wine list, which is even better.

INDIANA: Bluebeard, Indianapolis

Located in Indianapolis, IN, Bluebeard is an absolute dream. Chef Abbi Merriss knows all that there is to know about the wonderful trade called cooking, and let’s face it, there’s no better way to enjoy an awesome dish than with your Significant Other on Valentine’s Day.
Anyway, if you are a meat lover, than Bluebeard is just the right place for you to go on this amazing day. The location is totally unique – we’re talking about a contemporary American restaurant operating from an old but refurbished warehouse here –, and about a menu that changes every day in order to incorporate the ingredients provided by locals.
The meat, for example, comes from local farms. But oh my, this doesn’t mean the dishes aren’t fancy. On the contrary. Does pappardelle with braised pork belly sound like your thing? Because it surely sounds like mine.

IOWA: Cobble Hill, Cedar Rapids

most romantic restaurants
If you’ve ever eaten somewhere in New York, then you have to admit that there’s something about the atmosphere of the city that other places simply cannot match. Yes, having brunch or dinner in Manhattan can be a totally unique experience, but the best thing about living in Iowa – or in Cedar Rapids, to be more specific – is that you have the chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day in New York fashion without even leaving your home state.
The restaurant I’m talking about is called Cobble Hill, and the decorators have done a great job emulating Brooklyn with actual taste. And the dishes are simply mouthwatering, as the menu caters to all tastes. And as it usually goes, fresh, local ingredients are used every time.

KANSAS: AVI Seabar & Chophouse, Wichita

Kansas, oh Kansas! Nothing is quite like this state, and I’ve always believed that food here is just as it is supposed to be. Abundant, mouth watering, and well – most importantly – effin’ delicious.
So if you happen to be in downtown Wichita on Valentine’s Day, then you should by all means grab your Significant Other and come to the lovely AVI Seabar & Chophouse, which you can find at the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview.
The atmosphere here is absolutely amazing, and the menu revolves around the steakshouse theme, all that while incorporating new and exciting stuff like revamped versions of the classics: steaks, shrimp scampi and crab cakes. They truly have it all, so you should definitely give this place a go.

KENTUCKY: Bouquet Restaurant and Wine Bar, Covington

most romantic restaurants
Located in Covington, KY, Bouquet Restaurant and Wine Bar offers exactly what the names says, the only difference being that it will blow your mind on top of that too. And the place itself is pretty damn amazing too. In fact, if you do decide to have dinner with your partner here on Valentine’s Day, you’ll definitely feel at home, the only difference being that the extremely kind staff will serve you gourmet, albeit classic dishes like strip steak, risotto and the like, all of them paired with a glass of wine of the best quality. In fact, Bouquet is renowned for its extensive wine collections, which feature bottles from all the four corners of the world.
Pretty impressive, don’t you think?

LOUISIANA: Arnaud’s, New Orleans

I don’t know if I’ve ever told you this before, but I am very fond of Louisiana. The music, the culture, and the atmosphere in general – they’re all in sync with my soul.  But wait, I haven’t mentioned my favorite thing of all, namely the food that Louisiana has to offer. If you need something specific, then I’ll give you a restaurant name: Arnaud’s.
Not unexpectedly, Arnaud’s is situated in the French Quarter of New Orleans, right off of Bourbon Street. Here, Mardi Gras is celebrated all year long, so you can imagine that a combination between this and Valentine’s Day could indeed be pretty awesome.
Anyway, a restaurant that’s served Creole cuisine for almost 100 years now is definitely worth a visit.

MAINE: White Barn Inn, Kennebunk Beach

Main: most romantic restaurants
Is Maine inherently romantic? I don’t know about that. However, you have to admit that there is indeed something cozy and even quite romantic about sitting at a table with your significant other, enjoying the most delicious dishes you’ve ever had in your life and looking out the window, only to see the lovely snowy scenery outside.
So I was right. You do like this idea. Then why not head to White Barn Inn, which is located in Kennebunk Bach, ME? Order the special menu that the chef has created especially for Valentine’s Day, and don’t forget to breathe in the atmosphere and take a couple selfies. After all, this sophisticated restaurant is actually a revamped wooden barn. Awesome, right?

MARYLAND: Charleston, Baltimore

If you live in Baltimore, or if you happen to be there on Valentine’s Day with your partner, do yourself a favor and go to Charleston. I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed, especially since this restaurant brings together low country and French cuisine in the most wonderful way possible.
Anyway, regardless of how many courses you’re in the mood for, you’re spoilt for choice. Three? Six? You’re golden. And considering how sophisticated this restaurant is, the price tags, which vary between 79 and 114 dollars, shouldn’t be a problem.  After all, you’re allowed to splurge every once in a while, don’t you think?
Oh, and I forgot to mention the fact that Chef Cindy Wolf is a three time finalist for the James Beard Award for the Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic region.

MASSACHUSETTS: Wheatleigh Hotel, Lenox

Okay, so Hotel Wheatleigh may not be as grand as Hilton or Ramada, given that it is privately owned, and quite small, but oh my, its dining room is by far and away one of the very best in the entire country. If you are into fine dining, sophisticated places and all the like, then you will most definitely be happy to hear that Wheatleigh is open all year-round.
Every single member of the staff was trained in Europe, and believe me when I’m telling you this: their training is indeed noticeable.
The airy space is ideal for Valentine’s Day, as nothing seems to break the peaceful atmosphere or prevent you from enjoying your time with your partner. Oh, and if you want an extra tip, try their cheese trolley. It’s absolutely delicious.

MICHIGAN: Grove, Grand Rapids

Michigan: most romantic restaurants
Grove is an absolutely amazing restaurant situated in Grand Rapids, MI, which has already got an established reputation for using high quality, natural, ingredients collected from local farms. The menu is one of the most impressive ones I’ve ever seen, and let’s face it – there’s nothing like going to a restaurant and seeing the impressive selection of dishes they have on offer and not knowing what to choose.
Anyway, I’ll give you two examples of awesome dishes served at Grove, which are actuallu my favorites: poached shrimp nicoise and olive oil poached arctic char. Oh my!
And FIY, Grand Rapids magazine named it Restaurant of the Year for two years in a row, while OpenTable voted it not just best food and best service, but also best overall in Michigan.

MINNESOTA: Spoon and Stable, Minneapolis

Normally, I would tell you not to be deceived by restaurant names, but in this case, Spoon and Stable was named accordingly. The restaurant is actually a refurbished horse stable, which I believe looks absolutely amazing at the moment.
One of the most interesting aspects of Spoon and Stable, however, is the way it combines Midwestern flavors with French cuisine. Chef Gavin Kaysen spent his entire childhood and teenage years in Minneapolis, and he wants every dish served under his supervision to reflect the beauty of this state’s flavors.
Among the best selling dishes – or should I call them fan favorites? – served at his restaurant you can find bison tartare, as well as gorgeous spaghetti topped with mussels and prawns and – wait for it – monkfish wrapped in bacon.

MISSISSIPPI: Char, Jackson

MISSISSIPPI: most romantic restaurants
To say that Jackson, Mississippi is a pretty cool city would be a huge understatement, because experience has taught me that this place is absolutely delightful, from every point of view. But hey, we aren’t talking about overall stuff here, but about two very important things: one, food, and two, Valentine’s Day.
So if you are in the mood for some lovely and delicious comfort food, but at the same time willing to spend this wonderful day with in a fancy, sophisticated place your significant other, then Char is just the right spot for you. The wood paneled dining room, the dim light, the gorgeous selection of dishes in the menu … absolutely amazing! House made pecan pie? Fried crab claws? Pecan crusted blackfish? Yes, please.

MISSOURI: Bluestem, Kansas City

Kansas City is a must-see in Missouri, and as you’ve probably already guessed, the main reason for that is a restaurant. An absolutely amazing one called Bluestem, which was not only featured in Eater’s America’s Essential Restaurants list, but also among the semifinalists for 2015’s  James Beard Outstanding Restaurant.
So needless to say, Bluestem is in a league of its own. The food is truly impressive, as is the hospitality. If you want my advice, this Valentine’s Day you and your partner should try one of the three-, five-, or ten-course – yeah, you read that right! – tasting menus, which are pretty damn amazing. This comes as no surprise. After all, how could you not love a menu that includes sweet corn soup, black truffle, sea scallops and goat cheesecake?

MONTANA: Lucca’s, Helena

Montana: most romantic restaurants
Located in Helena, MT, Lucca’s is cozy in the best way possible. With a dining room of only 15 tables, a warm atmosphere and a mouthwatering selection of dishes, you and your significant other will definitely have a great time here on Valentine’s Day this year.
As the name suggests, Lucca’s specializes in Italian cuisine, and oh my, Chef Mike Hyyppa is truly in a league of his own when it comes to this kind of food.
His veal scaloppine, for instance, is out of this world. And don’t even get me started on his baked manicotti, because I’m feeling hungry again, even though I’ve already had dinner.
Also, Lucca’s has a 4.5/5 star rating on TripAdvisor, so this definitely sounds like good news. In 2014, the same site even awarded the place a Certificate of Excellence.

NEBRASKA: Modern Love, Omaha

Oh darling, even I could not believe how delicious a vegetable based menu could be! And yes, surprising as it may seem, Modern Love, situated in Omaha, NE offers just that, managing to attract not only vegans, but also passionate carnivores every single day.
So you can imagine that on Valentine’s Day, couples are more than eager to come here.
After all, it’s hard to say no to food that is not only healthy, but also absolutely delicious, don’t you think? And I have to admit that Chef Isa Chandra Moskowitz’s creativity is completely off the charts, which is more than obvious from the menu. Pecan crusted tofu with cashew cheese? Barbecued cauliflower? Braised kale? Seitan cutlets with oyster mushroom gravy? Pumpkin cheesecake? Almond coconut cream pie? Mmmmmm…

NEVADA: Joel Robuchon, Las Vegas

Nevada: most romantic restaurants
Hey, we are talking about Nevada here after all, so you can imagine that the most romantic restaurant I’m about to suggest for this Valentine’s Day is situated in fabulous Las Vegas. The name of the venue is Joel Robuchon, and yeah, I know it sounds fancy. That’s because the place is indeed sophisticated, and therefore perfect for lovebirds like you and your partner.
Joel Robuchon has one of the best chefs in the whole country, and a five-star menu based on the gorgeous French cuisine that we all know and adore. The dining room here is extremely sophisticated, making you think you are in a glamorous mansion. Because sometimes, nothing compares with a luxurious experience with your loved one, right?

NEW HAMPSHIRE: Bedford Village Inn, Bedford

New Hempshire: most romantic restaurants
The historic Bedford Village Inn, located in, well, Bedford, NH is the very definition of impressive. The lovely dining room is renowned in the entire country, due to the cozy atmosphere it offers its guests. There are even a bunch of fireplaces there, and believe, they greatly contribute to the overall effect that the place has on you. You will definitely feel at home here, and you can be sure that the food will be out of this world.
Some of the most popular dishes served at Bedford Village Inn are seafood pot au feu, Long Island duck breast and bone in sirloin with roasted potatoes. Classics, I know. But more often than not, the classic dishes are the ones we most enjoy, right?

NEW JERSEY: Restaurant Latour, Sussex County

Sussex County, New Jersey. Restaurant Latour. Remember the name and the location darling, because with this place, this is how it usually goes: you see it, and bam! Love at first sight. Especially if you come here with your significant other for Valentine’s Day.
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you about the cool details that make Restaurant Latour unique, namely the floor to ceiling windows that allow you to admire the absolutely gorgeous view of mountain peaks at dusk while your plate is practically grateful for having food that’s so delicious on it. Salmon, venison and oysters are some of the best things served here, so trust me when I’m saying that all this stuff tastes a lot better here than it does in other places.

NEW MEXICO: Geronimo, Santa Fe

Geronimo is by far and away the most romantic restaurant in Mexico, and in my opinion, it is also the best one in the entire state. As the name suggests, you will undoubtedly have an outstanding culinary experience here, and the lovely atmosphere and the impeccable service will contribute to this too. And it’s not just me who believes this, but professionals like OpenTable too, who have named Geronimo best food, best ambiance and best overall in New Mexico.
So yeah, you’re definitely in for a treat if you decide to go there for Valentine’s Day with your partner. I suggest that you try green miso sea bass with bok choy or Hudson Valley foie gras flapjacks. You can thank me later!

NEW YORK: Eleven Madison Park, New York City

Oh, New York, New York! No other place compares to it, and let’s face it: you are literally spoiled for choice when it comes to awesome places where you can go out for dinner with your significant other for Valentine’s Day. So I did have a pretty tough job deciding on just one restaurant to suggest you, but don’t worry, because I’ve managed to find the most romantic one, which is also my absolute favorite in Manhattan.
The prix-fixe menu they have on offer at Eleven Madison Park is nothing short of a miracle: chef de cuisine Chris Flint has designed some pretty impressive menus ranging between eight and ten courses, all of which are made with high quality ingredients sourced, obviously, in New York. The price tag for each of them is 295 dollars.

NORTH CAROLINA: The Biltmore, Asheville

North Carolina: most romantic restaurants
The Biltmore Estate, located in Asheville, North Carolina, is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. If you are looking for a restaurant that feels like home but serves some incredibly delicious dishes in the most amazing of settings, then this is just the right place for you. Especially on Valentine’s Day, when everything you enjoy, you’ll enjoy with the person you care for the most.
All the dishes served here are made using locally sourced meat, fish and vegetables – which are grown on the actual estate! – and the menu offers pretty much everything you can think of. The view that you see if you look out the window is pretty impressive too, as the Blue Ridge Mountain view tends to be.
Oh, and once you get there, you’ll also find out about the connection between Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Biltmore.

NORTH DAKOTA: Mezzaluna, Fargo

North Dakota prides itself on this absolutely lovely restaurant situated in the well-known downtown Fargo, which is exactly why Mezzaluna was voted the best restaurant in the entire state by OpenTable, and also one of the best places to grab a bite in Fargo by Conde Nast Traveler.
As you’ve probably imagined, one can’t possibly get all these distinctions without offering impeccable service, a great atmosphere, and most importantly, delicious food. Even I am not sure how it manages to achieve this, but Mezzaluna is glamorous and cozy at the same time. I guess it’s because the dishes they have in offer range from mac and cheese to crab stuffed walleye and even encrusted rack of lamb.
Pretty awesome, don’t you think?

OHIO: Orchids at Palm Court, Cincinnati

You know that feeling that you get when you find out about the name of a place and you know instantly that it’s going to be so awesome, that you’re barely able to contain your joy? Well, this is what usually happens to people when they hear about Orchids at Palm Court, which is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
And honestly, there’s good reason for that. The restaurant has exceeded my expectations too, from all points of view, because the food was absolutely delicious, not to mention extravagant and completely out of this world. And let me tell you one thing: eating dry aged duc breast, swordfish medallions, king crab sweet potato soup in such a luxurious place feels like Heaven, especially when your SO is with you.

OKLAHOMA: Paseo Grill, Oklahoma City

Oklahoma: most romantic restaurants
Paseo Grill, located in Oklahoma City, is a must-visit for everyone who loves good food and awesome evenings with their significant other. Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to visit this absolutely gorgeous restaurant, which offers pretty much everything that the heart of a gourmand desires.
If you’re a private person, you’re in luck. At Paseo Grill, they have a great many secluded tables, with privacy curtains and even booths carefully tucked away at the back of the dining room. And when you thought the atmosphere couldn’t get any more romantic than that, a sharply dressed waiter will come with your food: ribeye, sea bass and a chocolate pyramid for dessert.
Amazing, isn’t it? I, for one, would definitely love to go there for Valentine’s Day.

OREGON: Kachka, Portland

Led by the brilliant Chef Bonnie Morales, Kachka, a gorgeous restaurant that you can find in Portland, Oregon, is one of the best restaurants not only in the state, but also in the entire country.
And if you ask me, this lovely place is also one of the most romantic ones that I know of. So if you already live here of if you happen to be here with your partner on February 14, then you already know what I’m about to suggest to you two lovebirds.
Go to Kachka together, and you will definitely not regret it. It is Russian cuisine that we are talking about here, so this is the perfect chance to try something new and to be pleasantly surprised by dishes that are nothing like what you experience in your day-to-day life. How about herring under a fur coat with one of the 50 varieties of vodka served here?

PENNSYLVANIA: Abe Fisher, Philadelphia

Abe Fisher is definitely not as old as some of the other restaurants that I have told you about here, but oh my, just because it’s been opened more recently, it doesn’t mean the food it has on offer isn’t absolutely delicious. On the contrary, it is actually pretty damn amazing, and quite unique, especially since it draws inspiration from Jewish cuisine.
So why not take your loved ones on an interesting date for Valentine’s Day and try some stuffed trout gefilte fish, veal schnitzel tacos or even pastrami hash knishes.
And the best thing about the Philadelphia-based restaurant is that it has actually been getting a lot of recognition lately, having been featured in OpenTable’s Hottest Restaurants of 2015, and being one of the semifinalists for the Best New Restaurant award offered by the James Beard Foundation.

RHODE ISLAND: Bouchard Restaurant and Inn, Newport

RHODE ISLAND: most romantic restaurants
Bouchard Restaurant and Inn is, without a doubt, Chef Albert Bouchard’s pride and joy. Located in the amazing coast town Newport, the inn / restaurant has everything that a couple could possibly wish for on Valentine’s Day. And I really mean it when I say that, you know? I’m talking about waterfront views, a bunch of incredibly cozy suites and most importantly, food that is absolutely delicious and, I have to admit, gorgeously decadent in the best way possible.
Some of Bouchard Restaurant and Inn’s most popular dishes are duck breast sautéed with a coffee crust, restuffed roasted lobster and scallops and parsley and garlic flavored escargot. Oh my God, I’m already hungry, so we’d better move on to the next state, okay?

TENNESSEE: The Barn at Blackberry Farm, Walland

If you live in Walland, Tennessee, then I have great news for you. There’s an amazing restaurant here called The Barn, which serves some of the best dishes in the entire country. The chef’s team is well trained, experienced, creative and capable of some pretty impressive feats. Their hearth-roasted autumn squash or beer tenderloin carpaccio are just two of the restaurant’s most popular specialties, and their clients fall in love with them time and time again.
So if you come here for Valentine’s Day, you will fall in love two times: first, with your partner, once again, due to the romantic atmosphere, and second, with the food, which is simply amazing, from every point of view.
See you at the Blackberry Farm, darling!

TEXAS: Uchi, Austin

Austin, Texas is a pretty impressive city, and we all know that already, but I doubt that anyone except natives is familiar with the culinary scene of the place. After some really tasty research, I have come to the conclusion that the best – and at the same time, the most romantic – restaurant in Texas is not a steakhouse, but a contemporary Japanese restaurant that uses seafood from all the four corners of the world and ingredients sourced from local farmers.
Best thing is, the quality of the food here has been recognized by James Beard, who awarded Chef Tyson Cole the Best Chef in the Southwest title in 2011.
So if you and your partner want to try something on Valentine’s Day, start your adventure at Uchi.

SOUTH CAROLINA: Circa 1886, Charleston

SOUTH CAROLINA:most romantic restaurants
There is a lot of awesome stuff that you can see in South Carolina, and I think that we all know that. However, we are talking about delicious food and romantic places where you can spend Valentine’s Day with your significant other, so let me tell you about the coolest place in Charleston, SC: Circa 1886.
Yes, that’s the actual name of the restaurant, so it comes as no surprise that the owners have always been very particular about the architecture being in keeping with the old school values.   The dining room is situated in the former carriage house of the Wentworh Mansion, which was built in 1886 (you don’t say!), and the restaurant retains quite a lot of the original details. The stable doors are pretty impressive, as are the heart of pine floors and the kitchen fireplace, which is an absolute masterpiece.

SOUTH DAKOTA: Enigma Restaurant, Rapid City

Located in Rapid City, SD, Enigma Restaurant is the perfect location for those of us who are not only food lovers, but also romantics at heart. In keeping with its name, going to this amazing restaurant with your partner for Valentine’s Days is a sure way to have fun. If you choose to have the so-called “Mystery Dinner”, the chef will prepare a special meal just for you. Four courses, fancy stuff, dessert and all that. Isn’t that absolutely amazing?
And by the way, this restaurant serves desserts shaped like swans. So they don’t specialize only in delicious food, but also in awesome looking, Instagram worthy dishes, which can make the whole dining experience even better. No enigmas here, right?

VIRGINIA: The Inn At Little Washington, Washington

Now if we’re talking about Virginia, then I definitely have to mention the Inn at Little Washington, the restaurant that’s held the No. 1 spot in Washingtonian magazine’s list of the best restaurants in the state for three years on end.
And there is good reason for that. On Valentine’s Day, you can choose from the three prix-fixe tasting menus that Chef Patrick O’Connell has carefully designed, one of which includes what diners believe to be the most iconic dishes served at this spot. Think of it as the Best Of Inn at Little Washington.  Beet tartare, sweet and sour pan seared scallops, chilled veal tongue? Oh my God, I need this so bad right now. I think I’ll have to call ‘em up and make a reservation.

WASHINGTON: Canlis, Seattle

Washington: most romantic restaurants
Seattle has got quite a lot of awesome restaurants, and just like it goes with New York, it’s been quite difficult for me to select just one restaurant to represent Washington. However, I have settled on Canlis, a family owned spot that is so quintessentially Northwestern, that it will blow your mind. You will love it, and your significant other will too, if you come here with them for Valentine’s Day.
This restaurant is well respected in the entire state, and I suggest that you get some nice whiskey along your with your food too, as Canlis also has a Personal Whiskey Consultant that will give you just the right selection of spirits to go with your meal. Definitely an awesome experience!

WEST VIRGINIA: The Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown

I know we’re supposed to be talking about restaurants from all across the United States here, but at the same time, I want to give you details about the most romantic spot in every state. Which is exactly why I’ve decided to talk about The Bavarian Inn, a restaurant in Sheperdsville that will make you feel like you’ve been transported to an old, rural Europe. On the menu you will find both German and American specialties at all times, but on Valentine’s Day, there’s a special menu you can choose. How about Chateaubriand for two, along with a dessert sampler with black forest cake and brandy chocolate mousse?
If you want to try something that you don’t eat every day, something American and foreign at the same time, you definitely have to come here.

WISCONSIN: Ardent, Milwaukee

With the amazing work that he is doing for Ardent, Chef Justin Carlisle is the star of Milwaukee. And I am serious about that. I never would have thought that a menu that is so short could be so damn awesome. Best thing is, you can choose from a selection of small plates, so that you can enjoy more than one dish and get a taste of everything. You could start with squash soup, for instance and add some salt roasted celeriac on the side, or simply go for a regular sized meal like smoked lentil ravioli.
Whatever you choose, you and your partner are sorted for Valentine’s Day if you choose to go here. Maybe we’ll even meet there!

WYOMING: Cafe Genevieve, Jackson Hole

Just because it’s Valentine’s Day, it doesn’t mean you can’t chill with your partner in a cozy place. I mean, you don’t always have to go to a sophisticated place to enjoy a romantic dinner with them, right?
If you agree with me, then you are going to absolutely adore Café Genevieve, a spot where the atmosphere will make you feel as if you were at home, the only difference being that the Chef and a brilliant team of workers will do all the hard work for you and bring the most delicious versions of comfort foods to your table. Their mac and cheese, for instance, is nothing like anything I’ve ever tasted, as is their fried chicken.
And come on, let’s not pretend that willow trees aren’t romantic, okay?

UTAH: Forage, Salt Lake City

Utah: most romantic restaurants
Situated in Salt Lake City, Utah, Forage has a lot to offer. Not just a menu and a selection of fancy dishes, but something totally unique: a whole experience. This Valentine’s Day, you and your significant other can go for the tasting menu, which features no fewer than 14 courses, all based on molecular gastronomy.
You need at least three hours to go through all the lovely courses, and believe me, you’ll be taking a lot of pictures for your Instagram while you’re dining at Forage. After all, it’s not like you get to taste duck-eff pierogi or black currant leaf with frozen tomato.
And the restaurant’s policies are in keeping with the name too: every ingredient used is foraged from Utah and its nearby ranches or farms.

VERMONT: Hen of the Wood, Waterbury

You may not have heard of Waterbury, VT until now, but as you have probably already guessed, I am about to tell you about a restaurant that is a real game changer. I am talking about Hen of the Wood, one of Waterbury’s main culinary attractions. Like seriously, this place is so good, that the owners decided to open a second location in Burlington.
Anyway, Chef Eric Warnstedt comes up with meals that are quite simple, but deliciously decadent at the same time, the menu changing every day, based on the ingredients that the restaurant gets every day from the nearby Champlain Valley and Green Mountains.
Among the fan favorites you can find rabbit leg with buttered celery root, winter squash fritters with honey and kale gratin with prosciutto breadcrumbs.
