These Are This Season's 10 Most Popular Street Style Trends

Fashion Month has finally come to a close, and boy, was it action-packed. Over the past four weeks, we experienced fluctuating weather conditions: Snow storms in New York, high winds (but warm temperatures) in London, sunshine in Milan and torrential rain for almost all of Paris Fashion Week. The varying temperatures made packing (and getting dressed) difficult, that's for sure, yet it didn't stop editors, bloggers, influencers, and celebrities for putting together some enviable (and easily replicable) looks. As proved, fashion doesn't stop for anyone — not even Mother Nature.
Despite experiencing nearly all four seasons over the course of a month, we were still able to gain a whole lot of style inspiration from what our favorite fashion faces were wearing on the streets. To hone in on the effect of the trends we saw most often, the analytics team at global fashion search engine Lyst monitored real-time search and sales figures globally over the course of Fashion Month, looking for spikes in consumer interest related to the most liked street style photography. Based on that in-depth data, Lyst has worked out the most popular trends among showgoers, which translated directly into sales (meaning for most people, what they saw was what they bought). Here's the 10 you should know (and buy) now.
Striped Shirts
Across international fashion weeks, the style set was frequently seen in striped shirts, whether layered over a turtleneck or under a structured coat, or worn solo tugged off-the-shoulder. But, these weren't your typical button-ups, of course: These were deconstructed, with asymmetric hems or unusual cut-outs.

Lots Of Plaid
Everyone from Caroline Issa to Lucy Williams (pictured here on the left) was seen in the classic pattern. During Fashion Month, Lyst saw a search for the term increase by 63%, with sales increasing by 23%.

'80s-Esque Blazers
If you associate blazers with school uniforms and frumpy workwear, it's time to rethink what you know. Teaming a blazer with jeans and a statement clutch is an easy way to look elegant but still effortless. Let the cuffs from your shirt peek out from your blazer sleeves, like designer Yoyo Cao.

Gucci Handbags
It's impossible to ignore the Alessandro Michele mania that has swept through the style set over the past few years. During Milan Fashion Week, Gucci was virtually everywhere, especially on the day of the show — but the most popular pieces were, of course, the bags. According to Lyst, searches for Gucci bags rocketed by 102%, with sales increasing by 32%.
5 OF 10
Embroidered Jackets
Denim jackets are a wardrobe staple for many, but embroidery can update a tired garment and add some more personality. Embellished jackets were spotted on the likes of Olivia Palermo and Yasmin Sewell; here, Elle Russia's editor-in-chief Ekaterina Mukhina wears a Gucci version.

The Color Red
Dior's fall/winter 2017 show may have focused on the color blue, but red has been on runways and on the streets everywhere. Here, stylist Tess Yopp wears cropped red flares and a patent jacket.
7 OF 10
Dark Florals
Yes, florals come back into fashion pretty much every spring, but dark or gothic iterations are the perfect way to wear flowers in a less obvious way. And apparently other people agree: Searches for the look soared by 63%, and sales increased by 26%.
8 OF 10
Octagonal Ray-Bans
Spring is almost here, which means it's time to invest in some new frames. Aviator shades are a timeless classic, but why not follow the fashion crowd and pick up a pair of octagonal sunglasses this spring, like Yoyo Cao? They're set to be the biggest shape of the season, considering searches increased by 98% and sales by 46%.
9 OF 10
Patent Leather
We've raved about the vinyl trend repeatedly, but if you're still not on board, perhaps the fact that searches for 'vinyl' increased by 79% over the past few weeks (and Jessie Bush's super-shiny Mango parka) might convince you.
10 OF 10
White Booties
If white clothing frightens you – think of the stain potential and visible creasing! – dip your toe into super-clean color with shoes. Lyst noticed an increase in searches for the footwear by 82%, and saw a 30% sale increase. Here, Camille Charrière finishes off her blazer and skirt ensemble with a bright, crisp pair of booties.
